Snow scrambles girls basketball playoffs just little

Basketball

With Anne Arundel and Montgomery county schools closing Tuesday, Monday's snow is starting to affect the girls state basketball playoffs.

No girls games were scheduled for Monday, but games involving three teams ranked in The Baltimore Sun's Top 15 girls basketball poll will be postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday.

No. 11 Howard's game against Blake, a Montgomery County school, will be moved to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Howard.

No. 14 South River was scheduled to play Annapolis and No. 15 Old Mill to play Meade Tuesday. Both of the ranked teams will host the games Wednesday at 6 p.m.

As of 7:30 p.m. Monday, Baltimore City and the other surrounding counties planned to open Tuesday. However, a few of the Tuesday girls games have changed times to accomodate double headers with the boys, whose games were snowed out on Monday.

Here's a look at what time and where the other girls teams in The Sun's Top 15 will play Tuesday barring further school closings.

In Class 4A North, No. 9 Catonsville hosts Western at 6 p.m.

In Class 3A North, No. 4 Milford Mill hosts Woodlawn at 5 p.m. The No. 7 Millers boys will follow against Parkville at 7.

In Class 3A East, No. 2 Poly girls hosts Centennial at 6 p.m. The Engineers' boys will play at No. 1 City at 4:30 pushing the No. 7 City girls' game with No. 14 Mount Hebron to 7 p.m.
