Six area seniors recognized at 10th annual Minds in Motion luncheon

In all, 14 student athletes statewide received scholarship awards at the luncheon held at M & T Bank Stadium.

 Six high school senior scholar-athletes from the Baltimore area were among 14 statewide honored at the Allstate Foundation/Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association's 10th annual Minds in Motion Scholarship Luncheon at M&T Bank Stadium on Thursday.

Veronica Chen (Carver A & T), Vicente Iglesias (Towson), Peter Kannam (City), Courtney Klapka (North Harford), Lauren Murphy (Mount Hebron) and Haley Tiller (Reservoir) were the area recipients.

Each received scholarship awards of $1,000, provided by the Allstate Foundation. To qualify, students must have at least a 3.25 unweighted GPA and play at least one interscholastic sport during their four years of high school.

Also recognized were Brett Culhane (Lackey), Omolola Sanusi (Seneca Valley), Conner Houtman (Parkside), Paul Seibert (Clear Spring) Morgan Rush (North-Garrett), Nehemiah Stewart (Huntingtown) Jamie Sullivan (Bowie)  and Katie Zehner Bethesda-Chevy Chase).

The event took place inside the Ravens' locker room at M&T, and each recipient had his or her own locker stall and nameplate with high school playing gear and awards inside.
