As artists vacate Bell Foundry, questions swirl around its future

Rich Zinkand named Calvert Hall soccer coach

Calvert Hall has named Rich Zinkand, a 1987 graduate and a member of the school’s English department, as its new varsity soccer coach.

Zinkand has been the head men’s soccer coach at CCBC-Essex for the past 10 years and replaces retired coach Andy Moore.

"I am very excited to take over the soccer program," Zinkand, who played collegiately at Towson, said in a statement. "Calvert Hall soccer means so much to so many people. With the support of the administration, the faculty, and the alumni I am confident that we will be successful."

This fall, Zinkand led CCBC-Essex to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Tournament as the team finished with a 12-3-2 mark.

Moore had been with the Calvert Hall program for 20 years, the past 14 as head coach, before stepping down at the end of the season to spend more time with his family.  As head coach, he finished his career with a 165-92-26 mark and led the Cardinals to Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championships in 2002 and  2003.

In 2002, the team went 18-0 in league play to become the first team in MIAA history to complete a perfect conference season. Moore continues to teach European History, French and Humanities at Calvert Hall.
