No. 1 St. Frances girls headed to DICK's Nationals basketball tournament

No. 11 nationally, St. Frances girls basketball to play in four-team national tournament.

The No. 1 St. Frances girls basketball team received a bid Wednesday to play in the DICK's Sporting Goods High School Nationals tournament this month in New York.

Coach Jerome Shelton's Panthers won their second straight IAAM A Conference championship last month and then won the Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational Tournament. They are 30-0, the best record in program history.

Ranked No. 11 in USA Today's Super 25, the Panthers will play No. 8 Hamilton Heights Christian from Chattanooga, Tenn. No. 4 Miami Country Day (Fla.) is the No. 1 seed and will play No. 15 Seton Catholic (Ariz.) in the opening round.

The tournament will run March 30-April 1 at Christ the King High School in Middle Village, N.Y.
