The No. 1 Severna Park boys continued their strong cross country season with an impressive performance at the Maymont Cross Country Festival in Richmond, Va., on Saturday.
One week after winning at the Spiked Shoe Invitational, the Falcons crushed the field in the Invitational division at Maymont. Milestat.com said that Severna Park's team average of 16 minutes, 19 seconds made them the fastest squad ever in the Invitational race.
In addition, the Falcons finished with 60 points, beating Patriot (Va.) by 104 points, and the website said that's also a record-setting accomplishment for this meet.
Ryan Forsyth led the way with his second-place finish. Rhys Burgett (fourth), Dillon Cooley (13th), Clay Whitney (16th) and Kevin Hines (25th) were the rest of the top five.
"The boys are running real well these days, but we know things don't start counting until November," Severna Park coach Josh Alcombright said. "I am really impressed with the things they have been doing in meets and training so far. [We] just need to keep it rolling."
