McDonogh junior offensive lineman Ellis McKennie on Wednesday announced that he orally committed to play football at Maryland in 2015.
"I am officially gonna be a Terp!!" McKennie wrote on Twitter. "I have committed to the University of Maryland!!"
After making his second visit to the university in as many months, McKennie said in March that Maryland was "at the top right now."
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman is a three-star prospect and the 30th-ranked offensive guard in the nation, according to Rivals.com. He also considered Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers, Temple, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
McKennie helped plow the way for an Eagles offense that averaged 36.2 points per game this season. McDonogh finished 2013 as The Baltimore Sun's No. 1 team after defeating Gilman, 37-6, to win the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
