Tryouts for the Maryland team in the second annual Big 26 Baseball Classic against Pennsylvania will be held at two locations in the state later this month.

The first tryout is scheduled for May 18 at the Northern Worcester Athletic Complex in Berlin for players on the Eastern Shore, while the second tryout is set for May 19 at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover for local players.

The top 26 players from Maryland will be selected to take on the Pennsylvania team in a three-game series at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, Pa., from July 26 to 28.

Maryland won the first Big 26 Baseball Classic last year. Pennsylvania won the opening game, 7-5, before Maryland won the next two games -- 15-4 in Game 2 and 4-3 in Game 3.

The event, run by the Big 33 Scholarship Foundation, is patterned after the annual Big 33 Football Classic, which Maryland will return to this summer for the first time since 1992.

Players participating in the Baseball Classic tryout must be from the Class of 2014 or Class of 2015.

Those interested in trying out for the team should fill out a registration form and pay $129 by May 18. The form for the Eastern Shore tryout is here, while the form for the Joe Cannon Stadium tryout is here.
