On Thursday, officials announced the 26-man roster for Team Maryland in the Big 26 Baseball Classic next month, which includes 10 local players.

Maryland will play Pennsylvania in a three-game series at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, Pa., from July 26 to 28.

St. Mary's (25-3), which had the best record in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference during the regular season before losing twice in the playoffs, leads the way with three players on the team -- Michael Abbott, Kenny Arminger and Chase Gorski.

Other local players on the team include: Daniel Bruno (Catonsville), Peter Crawford (Mount St. Joseph), Kevin Heiss (Archbishop Spalding), Ryan Horseman (Harford Tech), A.J. Robinson (Arundel), Jeremy Steward (C. Milton Wright) and Terrence Turner-Blair (Northwestern-Baltimore).

Maryland won the first Big 26 Baseball Classic last year. Pennsylvania won the first game, 7-5, before Maryland won the next two games -- 15-4 in Game 2 and 4-3 in Game 3.

The event, run by the Big 33 Scholarship Foundation, is patterned after the annual Big 33 Football Classic, which Maryland will return to this summer for the first time since 1992.
