John Cooper will be Kenwood's new wrestling coach, according to the school.
Cooper is a resident of Nottingham and a Baltimore County police officer.
But what makes him the school's new choice as the Bluebirds' coach is that the former Archbishop Curley wrestler can bring a lot of experience to the team.
Cooper was a two-time MSA wrestling champion and a National Prep champ when he wrestled for the Friars.
"Having a person with Coach Cooper's passion for the sport of wrestling bodes well for Kenwood," athletic director Derek Maki said. "We've had a rich tradition in wrestling over the years, and I'm hoping John can elevate the team to that higher level once again."
