IAAM girls lacrosse tournament begins Thursday

The Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference girls lacrosse tournament begins Thursday when John Carroll plays at St. Mary's play at 4 p.m. The rest of the tournament's first round will be played Friday.

Five-time defending champion McDonogh is the No. 1 seed followed by second-seeded Notre Dame Prep, third-seeded Roland Park and fourth-seeded Archbishop Spalding. All four will have first-round byes and host quarterfinal games Monday.

Friday's lineup includes No. 12-seed Maryvale at fifth-seeded Severn, No. 11-seed Garrison Forest at sixth-seeded Bryn Mawr and tenth-seeded Mount de Sales at seventh-seed St. Paul's.

The semifinals will be at the higher seed on Wednesday with the title game set for Sunday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at Stevenson University.

In the B Conference tournament, Friends is the top seed and will begin play on Monday. In the C Conference, Oldfields and Indian Creek won their divisions and each is the top seed in its half of the bracket.

Championships are also May 11 at Stevenson with the C Conference game at 2 p.m. and the B Conference at 4 p.m.
