Class 2A Girls: Patterson Mill (20-5) vs. Calvert (24-1)

Time: Friday 3 p.m. Outlook: Patterson Mill is in the tournament for the first time in school history and will meet the defending champions, the first Calvert County team -- girls or boys -- to win a state basketball title. The Huskies continue to build their program under second-year coach Joyce Jenkins, a former college coach at Maryland-Eastern Shore, and have won their last 12 games including an upset of defending regional champ Joppatowne in the region semifinals. The Huskies aim to be fundamentally sound and not make many mistake against the Cavaliers, who boast three 1,000-point scorers and five players who average in double figures. The Cavaliers, who defeated No. 6 Glenelg in the regional final, are led by 5-8 G Alexis Smith (21 points, 5 assists per game) while 5-10 F Morgan Golec (18.6 points) leads the Huskies.
