Howard's Trey Clark took first place this month in the pole vault at the Down Under International Sports meet in Brisbane, Australia.
Clark, who will be a senior this school year, vaulted 13 feet, 1/2 inches to defeat his lone competitor in the 18-to-19-year-old men's pole vault.
He also competed in the 100-meter run, the high jump, and the 4-by-100 relay.
Clark vaulted 14 feet to win the Class 3A-4A state championship last season.
Down Under Sports tournaments are held annually by International Sports Specialists Inc. Athletes from multiple countries compete head to head in football, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, golf, cross country, track and field, free style wrestling, and swimming.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
