Gilman's Goins commits to Maryland

Gilman senior Kenneth Goins committed Monday afternoon to play football for Maryland.

Goins, 5-foot-11, 210 pounds, doubled as a running back and a defensive end for the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference champion and No. 1 Greyhounds, but he will be a running back for the Terrapins. He scored a touchdown in the 34-32 double-overtime win against No. 2 Calvert Hall for the Greyhounds’ 10th A Conference title.

An All-Metro defensive end last season, Goins chose the Terps from among a final three that included Syracuse and Tulane.
