Four area soccer standouts named NSCAA All-Americans

Fine soccer seasons from four area standouts earned them All-America honors.

Four area soccer standouts -- two boys and two girls -- have been named All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Calvert Hall senior forward Ben Alexander and Archbishop Curley junior defender Nick Richardson made the boys list, while Archbishop Spalding senior defender Emily Roberts and Notre Dame Prep senior goalkeeper Ashley Gabor were the girls honored.

Alexander finished with 25 goals and six assists to lead the No. 1 Cardinals to their first Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference crown since 2003.

Richardson is a three-year starter as a central defender who led the No. 2 Friars to their second straight MIAA A title game.

Roberts was a four-year starter at sweeper for the No. 1 Cavaliers, who captured the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship.

Gabor was a three-year standout in goal who led the Blazers to three straight IAAM A title games.
