Calvert Hall graduate Robby Zoppo helped the United States under-19 men's lacrosse team to win a world championship on Saturday in Turku, Finland. Zoppo, a captain of the team, also plays midfield at Towson University.
The U.S. team knocked off top-seeded Canada, 10-8, to win the championship. Canada defeated the U.S. earlier in the tournament in pool play. The U.S. has never failed to win a gold medal in the Federation of International Lacrosse world championships since the tournament began in 1988.
Zoppo tallied two goals and two assists in pool play during the tournament.
