Calvert Hall has announced plans to name the school's basketball court in honor of former coach and 1970 alumnus Mark Amatucci.  In addition, the school also will establish the Mark Amatucci Scholarship for tuition assistance.

Amatucci, a guidance counselor at the school, won 398 games in 19 seasons at Calvert Hall (117 wins from 1977-82; 272 wins from 1993-2007).  He guided the Cardinals to three Baltimore Catholic League regular season titles and three tournament championships, and also two Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association crowns.

In the 1981-82 season, the Cardinals finished 34-0 and were named National Champions by USA Today, among other publications.

The dedication of the court at Alumni Memorial Gym will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 before the Cardinals play Loyola at 3:30

“This is an unbelievable honor and is truly a tribute to the outstanding student athletes and coaches that have been part of the Calvert Hall basketball program," Amatucci said in a statement released by the school. "The Hall has a prestigious athletic tradition and to be part of that has been very, very special.  I can’t thank Calvert Hall and all those who supported our teams enough."
