The Boys' Latin lacrosse team, which completed an 18-0 season in capturing the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference this spring, has been named the LaxPower national champion for the 2014 season.
The final rankings were compiled using LaxPower's National Coaches/Computer Rankings rating formula, which combines the national computer ratings with a national poll.
The rating are based on 28,750 game scores for 3,746 high school teams. The poll is a product of rankings by 28 high school coaches from around the country. The rating and rankings each count for half of the result.
Boys' Latin, which was ranked No. 1 in The Sun's Top 15 poll from start to finish, defeated rival St. Paul's, 17-11, to capture the program's tenth league championship.
McDonogh, which reached the MIAA A semifinals, was the only other area team in the top 25 of the final NC/CR ratings, finishing at No. 21.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
