Archbishop Curley soccer star Nick Richardson invited to Under-17 national team camp

Curley soccer standout Nick Richardson set to train with Under-17 national team.

Archbishop Curley soccer standout Nick Richardson, a two-time All-Metro first-team defender, has been selected to participate in the Under-17 U.S. Men's National Team training camp, set to begin Feb. 14 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

In the fall season, the standout junior led the No. 2 Friars (19-4-2) to first place in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference during the regular season and a second straight trip to the conference title game.

In addition to leading the Friars to nine shutouts, the center back also finished with four goals and six assists.  Richardson, a three-year-starter at Curley, also plays for the Baltimore Celtic club team.

"I'm really excited that Nick is being called into camp to be seen by the national team staff.  He has consistently performed on the field at a high level and is very deserving of this opportunity.  I believe he has all the tools to play at this next level and expect him to show well," said Curley coach Barry Stitz, who also coaches Richardson at the club level.
