All-Metro girls indoor track first and second team

Alex Butz

Hereford, senior

•Heading to Bucknell next fall to continue her track career

•Helped the Bulls to second straight Class 2A state title with victory in the pole vault (11-6)

•Also took second in the high jump at state meet

•Won the Baltimore County and Central Region titles in the pole vault and high jump

Tylar Colbert

Franklin, junior

•Transferred from Digital Harbor this year and helped Franklin win the Class 3A state title

•Took second in the state in the 55 and 300 at championship meet in February

•Also ran on Franklin's 1,600 relay team that won the night's final event and locked up team title

•Won the 55 and 300 (7.31 and 41.47) at the Class 3A Central Region meet before states

Maria Coffin

Annapolis, senior

•Will be doing her college running at Providence in the fall

•Ended her indoor season by winning the Class 4A 1,600 in 4:58.99, setting a class record

•Also took second in the 3,200 at the state meet after winning 1,600

•Won the 3,200 at the Class 4A Central Region meet two weeks earlier

Samantha Facius

Mount de Sales, sophomore

•Rebounded after missing the outdoor season last spring with an injury

•Did not lose an individual race all winter — going 8-for-8 overall — while running in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200

•Capped off a great indoor season with victories in the 800 (2:21.19) and 1,600 (5:14.14) at IAAM championship

•Time of 5:00.32 at the Jesuit Invitational — after the IAAM championship — was one of metro area's best this season

Nadia Hackett

Poly, senior

•Already was a strong runner but improved from last year and won a state title

•Took first in the Class 3A 55 hurdles, winning with a time of 8.34

•Won the same event in the City and Central Region meets (8.72 and 8.81)

•Took second in the City and Region meets in the 55 dash

Cameron Hinton

Franklin, junior

•Transferred from IAAM power Maryvale and helped Franklin to a Class 3A state title

•Won the state title in the 300 in a time of 39.59

•Also ran on the 1,600 relay team at meet's end that won race and helped clinch team title

•Took second in the 300 at the Baltimore County and Central Region meets

Chinenye Iloanya

Howard, sophomore

•Was both consistent and outstanding throughout the indoor season in the shot put

•Pulled off triple crown of winning Howard County, Class 4A East Region and state championships

•Won state in 36-0.25 in tough Class 4A division

•That came after winning the county (38-7) and region (35-4.75) meets

Beyonce Kelly

Harford Tech, sophomore

•Didn't compete as much as others as track's not an official winter sport in Harford County

•But Kelly still won the state championship in Class 2A high jump with a leap of 5-6

•That also was a personal best and tops in any of the four classes at state meet

•Took fourth in the Class 2A Central Region meet

Emily Knight

Severna Park, sophomore

•Ran well as a freshman last year and improved even more this winter

•Won the tough Class 4A state title for the 500 in 1:16.67

•Also took first in the 500 at the Central Region meet (1:17.37) before that meet

•Earlier, won the Anne Arundel Invitational 500 in 1:19.79

Kelly Wesolowski

Hereford, senior

•Next stop for the distance runner is Delaware next year

•Played a big role in helping Hereford repeat as Class 2A indoor state champions

•Took second in the 3,200 and finished third in the 1,600 as Hereford beat out Friendly for team title

•Also won the 1,600 (5:25.20) and 3,200 (11:18.46) at the Baltimore County meet that Hereford won over state champion Franklin

Allie Zolkiewicz

South Carroll, junior

•Sat out cross country season for second straight fall to train for indoor track; the work paid off

•Helped Cavaliers to the Carroll County championship meet title with wins in four individual events

•She won the 55 (7.55), 300 (41.42), 500 (1:20.19) and 800 (2:27.24)

•Believed to be first time anyone's won four individual events at the Carroll title meet
