Girls lacrosse: Severna Park slips past Severn in South River Showcase

Severna Park won its third straight girls lacrosse game in nail-biting fashion, edging neighborhood rival Severn, 9-8, in the South River Showcase on Saturday.

Laura Milleker led the Falcons with three goals and an assist, while Eva Klaus and Angelica Jensen each contributed a pair of scores. Sara Elms added a goal and an assist and Hunter Chadwick scored for Severna Park.

Brooke Robbins paced the Admirals with a hat trick, while Ayana Gordon supplied two goals and an assist and Ally Hall chipped in two goals. Maddie McDaniel also scored and Tess Bradshaw had an assist for Severn (3-2).

SPALDING 9, SOUTH RIVER 8: Jenna Garden scored the winning goal with 2 minutes, 59 seconds remaining to help the Cavaliers cap the South River Showcase with a victory.

Tori Bates, Emma Hamilton and Olivia Piccirilli all scored two goals for Spalding (2-2). Haley Urgo added a goal and an assist and Emily Kane scored for the Cavs.

South River (0-3) was paced by Jara Matlick's hat trick and a pair of goals from Caitlin Blanche. Madeline Cloyd, Kassidy Bresnahan and Sklyar Simmers also scored for the Seahawks.

BROADNECK 6, QUEEN ANNE'S 5: Brianna Harris stayed hot for the Bruins, scoring three goals and assisting on another, as Broadneck nipped the Lions in the South River Showcase. Kayla Harris added two goals and Taylor Sullivan netted a goal for the Bruins. Brianna Harris now has eight goals in two games for Broadneck (2-0).

WESTMINSTER 20, NORTHEAST 4: Holly Bowers and Laura Skorobatsch each had two goals, but the Eagles were thumped by the Owls in the South River Showcase. Northeast drops to 1-1.

KENT ISLAND 20, ANNAPOLIS 9: Payton Beach and Maddie Gonzalez each had three goals to lead a group of 10 players who scored in the Buccaneers' win over the Panthers in the South River Showcase. Gabby Beach, Caroline Blandford, Kelly Poole and Melissa Judge had two goals and an assist apiece, while Anna Schilling netted two goals. Keelyn Haarhoff, Nina Cifolilli, AJ Wilder and Cassidy Creighton all contributed a goal for Kent Island (1-1).

Maura Cissel led Annapolis with five goals and an assist, and Lizzie Heyn chipped in three goals. Abby Bird rounded out the scoring with a goal for the Panthers (0-2).

ARUNDEL 9, C. MILTON WRIGHT 7: Mackenzie Kolesar scored thee goals and Jenna Partilla and Brooke Malamphy had two goals apiece to lead the Wildcats over the Mustangs in the South River Showcase. Tiffany Lee and Gabby Lavin also scored for Arundel (1-1).

CENTENNIAL 16, OLD MILL 10: The Patriots (0-3) lost the first of their two games in the North Carroll Tournament, getting outscored 10-4 in the second half

Paige Orbell led Old Mill with two goals and two assists, while Ashley McMahon added two goals and assist. Gracie DePaul also scored twice and Abby Single, Tabitha Cobb, Danielle Duret and Rachel Fontz scored. Becca Creekmore recorded 17 saves for the Patriots.

FALLSTON 12, OLD MILL 5: Creekmore made 11 saves and DePaul scored twice for the Patriots. McMahon and Single both scored for Old Mill.

SOUTHERN 13, ST. MARY'S RYKEN 5: Sydney Davis had three goals and an assist and Sami VanSlyke and Sloane Dowgiallo each added three goals to lift the Bulldogs over the Knights in the Play With Heart Tournament held at Southern. Molly Barkman added two goals and an assist and Jayne Barkman contributed two goals in the winning effort.

SOUTHERN 5, HUNTINGTOWN 3: Sloane Dowgiallo finished the tournament with another three goals and Sami VanSlyke and Sydney Davis registered a goal apiece as the Bulldogs finished their Play With Heart tournament 2-0.
