The regional field hockey playoffs begin Tuesday and there's an intra-county matchup on the schedule.
Manchester Valley hosts Winters Mill in a Class 2A West Section quarterfinal at 3:30 p.m. The Mavericks (5-7) beat the Falcons 1-0 in their regular-season matchup.
The winner advances to face Liberty (11-3), which is the top seed in the section. The Lions, last year's Class 1A state champion, beat both MV and WM in the regular season.
Century (9-5) is the No. 2 seed and the Knights have a bye into the sectional semifinals. They'll visit Middletown on Oct. 26.
In 1A West Section 1, South Carroll (11-3) and Francis Scott Key (7-5) both have byes into the semifinals. The Cavs will host Owings Mills, and the Eagles are home to take on Pikesville.
The winners meet Oct. 30 in the sectional final.
County champion Westminster (11-3) is the top seed in 3A West Section 1. The Owls are into the next round and will host Frederick on Oct. 26.

Recap: At Westminster, Megan Thomas scored the lone goal for the Falcons (2-9-1). Chloee Johnson made nine saves.
South Carroll 2, Tuscarora 1
Recap: At Frederick, Stephen White and Nico Lindsay scored for the Cavaliers (9-4-1), with Nick Simoncini grabbing an assist.
JV result: SC, 2-0.
Carroll Christian 3, Rosedale Baptist 1
Recap: At Westminster, Steven Thomson had two goals and Jeremy Goodwin had the other for the unbeaten Patriots, who advanced to the Maryland Association of Christian Schools Athletic Conference championship game. Anthony Mendez posted an assist, and Christian Wooden made two saves. Carroll (14-0) hosts Harford in the title game Saturday night at 6.
South Carroll 1, Westminster 0
Recap: At Winfield, Megan O’Neill netted the lone goal, with an assist from Brooke Sadler, and the Cavaliers improved to 8-3-1 (4-2 county). Emilee Sheaffer and Natalie Hoff combined for eight saves for SC. Westminster (7-4-3, 2-3-1) got three saves from Sydney Popielski.
JV result: SC, 2-1 (SC-Sydney Hill 2 goals).
Liberty 3, Man Valley 1
Recap: At Manchester, the Lions won 26-28, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 and ran their record to 12-2 (8-2 county). Lydia Leiner had 21 kills, Ali Whitworth handed out 41 assists, and Emily Eckles added 10 kills for the Lions. Man Valley (4-8, 2-8) got 28 digs from Josey Klingenberg and 10 kills from Marlee Dzergoski.
FCA 3, McDonogh 0
Recap: The home-schooled Bravehearts (13-3) rolled 25-20, 25-11, 25-11. Elise Wilson notched four kills, Maddie Myers had 10 digs, and Natalie Marsch totaled 11 kills, eight digs, and three aces. Natalie Tracey added 19 assists.
JV result: FCA, 2-0.
