Class will represent the South team in the seventh annual game Saturday at 8 p.m. at Towson University.
What's it like being selected to play in the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic?
It's definitely a huge honor and I'm excited to play. When I first found out I think it was after our Boys' Latin game and I was definitely shocked. It was a really exciting time. It's something I've been watching on TV the past few years and I always thought how cool it would be to play, so it's definitely a huge honor and I can't wait to play.
How different will it be playing alongside some of your biggest rivals from other MIAA teams?
It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm friends with a lot of those guys like [Calvert Hall's] Pat [Kelly] and [St. Pauls'] Spencer [Parks] and getting to play with them will be cool and also getting to play against future [college] rivals and teammates also, so it will be a lot of fun.
What's the biggest impression Loyola has left you with?
I think definitely all the people I met and all the relationships I developed. I had a lot of great coaches and teachers, and a lot of great friendships with my classmates. I think I'll always think about all the fun times we had together.
What does lacrosse mean to you?
Lacrosse is something I've been playing since I was six years old and it's always been really enjoyable. Recently, I've been thinking about how, at first, lacrosse was just a fun game for me, but now it's been a platform for me. It's helping me get a great education and helping me network and meet all these new people and having all these great experiences. It's just become so much more than just a game that you play — it's really enjoyable and has been a big part of my life.
One of your finest strengths is your instinct and ability to read the game. Where does that come from?
I think that comes from when I was playing basketball. I played point guard and I feel like I have an ability to recognize what may happen in the next couple of seconds and then I trust my instincts to make the right pass or move the ball on. So I think my field awareness is a big strength of mine playing in the open field.
What were the factors in deciding to go to Duke?
I think all the schools I looked at offered great academic programs and were great teams. One thing about Duke was getting a chance to play in the Atlantic Coast Conference against some of the best teams and athletes in the country. And the other thing would probably be [Blue Devils] coach [John] Danowski and the rest of the staff. They really made me feel welcome and when I spent some time with the team, they also made me feel welcome. I just had a really good vibe hanging out with the guys and I felt like I was pretty similar to all of them.
