KEYS TO VICTORY
League play begins in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference on Tuesday and with it comes excitement and nerves. Properly channeling the added boost of energy is the first key to opening league play with a win. Both teams are coming off successful 2016 seasons — the Lakers reached the title game and the Admirals reached the semifinals — and have strong senior classes with intentions of enjoying bigger things. The Admirals' strength is on offense with four of their top seven scorers back and the return of Bedard, who was injured last season. Lamon is the catalyst with the ability to score and assist. To neutralize the visitors' potent attack, the Lakers will lean on Glatz to win faceoffs and Ey to be a steadying influence. Brandau, in his first season starting in the cage, will be tested. The Lakers bank on attackmen Luke Shilling and Matt Brandau with long-pole midfielder Michael Ubriaco bringing consistently tough and inspiring play.
