Sharon Dorsey, a senior, played a big role in Western Tech's winning the state title in its first year as a Class 2A school.
Last year, Dorsey won the Class 1A state title in the 500 and 800 meters, while the Wolverines finished second. This time, she won the 300 and 500 to help Western Tech win Class 2A by three points.
She won the same two races in the Baltimore County title meet to help Western Tech take third place overall. Dorsey, headed for George Mason in the fall, has been one of the area's most consistent runners throughout her career.
Western Tech coach Shedrick Elliott said Dorsey's leadship on and off the track was "crucial."
"Without Sharon, nothing would have been able to happen," he said.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
