Molyneaux took over at Northwestern in 2007 after building a dynasty at nearby Western, where the Doves won three state titles and 16 Baltimore City championships.

"The kids have to come to practice, and that's the bottom line," Molyneaux said at the time. "If they don't come to practice, they won't get any better."

In Molyneaux's fifth year there, Northwestern was the runner-up in Baltimore City, the Class 1A Central region and at the state meet.

Northwestern rode the multitalented Elizabeth Harper and Imani Daye to this season's success, which should lay the foundation for bigger things in the future.
