Ryan Drenner

Westminster, senior, attackman

After the Owls' heartbreaking 10-8 loss to South River in last year's Class 4A-3A championship, Drenner was determined to lead Westminster to the state title this year.

The senior accomplished his goal in impressive fashion, scoring four goals and adding five assists as the No. 8 Owls (19-0) avenged the defeat and completed a perfect season with a 13-10 win over the No. 9 Seahawks at UMBC Stadium last month. It was Westminster's first state championship in boys lacrosse.

No player in the Baltimore area meant more to his team's success than Drenner, who finished the year with 69 goals and 69 assists. A dazzling playmaker, he was particularly dominant in the playoffs, with 23 goals and 22 assists in five games.

Set to play at Towson, Drenner leaves Westminster as the program's all-time leading scorer with 281 points (146 goals, 135 assists) in three-plus seasons. He ranks second in Carroll County history in points and first in assists.
