Conor Doyle

Gilman, sr., attack

Off to a sluggish 3-3 start, the Greyhounds were in dire need of a win against rival Boys' Latin in April. Doyle, a senior captain, scored three goals — including the game-winner in overtime — and added two assists in an 8-7 victory that got the Greyhounds' season on track.

Time and time again, Doyle stepped up in his third varsity season, leading the No. 1 Greyhounds (13-5) to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association AConference championship. With two goals and three assists in Gilman's 13-8 win over No. 2 Calvert Hall in the title game, he finished the season with 33 goals and 32assists.

"Conor demonstrated great quickness and athletic ability, but what helped set him apart was his improved decision-making as the year progressed," Gilman coach Brooks Matthews said. "He improved his assist total by 12 this season, demonstrating his growth as a player and his trust in his teammates.  Doing so added another dimension to his game, which made Conor even harder to defend because he showed a willingness to take what the defense gave him."

Set to play at Notre Dame next year, Doyle finished with 80 goals and 62 assists in his three years at Gilman.
