KEYS TO VICTORY

The host Crusaders have been one of the area's biggest surprises, impressively recovering from last year's uncharacteristic three-win season. The addition of Wynne, a transfer from Glenelg, and the emergence of Flaig has bolstered the attack, while Wood and Mayer lead an experienced defense. After reaching the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship game last year, the Dons haven't missed a beat despite returning only two starters. McNamara is a dynamic playmaker who sets the tone in a balanced attack, while Bradley and Freiji provide defensive support in front of sophomore goalie Acie Newton. With both teams able to score a lot of goals, possession will be key. With O'Toole taking faceoffs, the Dons could have an advantage over the Crusaders. Goalie play — St. Paul's uses both Hunter Pearl and A.J. Barretto — will be another important aspect. Last season, Loyola cruised to a 17-6 win over St. Paul's.
