Alcombright truly got the most out of the Falcons as a team this season, as they won the Anne Arundel County and Class 4A East region titles before taking second in the state.

Severna Park was the consummate team. Sam Pershall led the way, but the Falcons stuck together throughout the season.

Alcombright was pleasantly surprised at his team's consistency throughout the lineup, saying that played a big role in the team's success.

At the state meet, Severna Park's top five runners finished within 33 seconds of one another in the tough Class 4A race. That discipline helped the Falcons end up with 101 points, second behind Walter Johnson (71).

"I was really impressed with how hard we worked over the summer and amazed at how small our gap was, not just from one to five, but all the way through to seventh," Alcombright said. "This truly shows the strength and depth of the team. We gained lots of experience and learned some valuable lessons that will help us as we move forward."
