Lane rushed for three touchdowns and returned a punt for another to lead the No. 12 Comets to a 50-14 win Friday over Hereford — their first victory over the Bulls in 16 years. The junior running back/cornerback had 10 carries for 201 yards, including touchdown runs of 64, 66 and 58 yards. He also returned a punt 75 yards for a score and had another punt return touchdown called back because of a penalty. On the defensive side, Lane had an interception at the goal line to thwart a Hereford scoring drive just before the half. Lane, an honor student with a 3.5 GPA, has six touchdowns and has gained 524 yards on 61 carries this fall, helping the Comets to a 5-0 start. He is drawing attention from several Division I schools, including Maryland.
