Bean, a 5-foot-7, 155-pound wide receiver, tied a state record with five touchdown catches in the No. 6 Owls' 49-14 victory at Linganore on Friday. His touchdowns went for 53, 52 and 4 yards as well as twice for 22 — all on passes from quarterback Deryk Kern. Bean totaled seven receptions for 188 yards against the Lancers. His five touchdown receptions tied the record set in 1993 by City's Dwight Banks. For the season, Bean has 16 receptions for 432 yards and seven touchdowns as the Owls are off to a 3-0 start. An A-B student, he plans to play football in college.
