Previewing the Class 4A state football final

The Baltimore Sun

Suitland (13-0) vs. Northwest (12-2)

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: M&T Bank Stadium

TV: WNUV-54, WDCW-50

Coaches: Ed Shields, Suitland; Michael Neubeiser, Northwest

Outlook: Suitland (ranked No. 5 in Washington area) advanced to the final on the heels of quarterback Wesley Wolfolk, who ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, and tailback Robert Wigfall, who added 134 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-25 semifinal win over No. 3 Meade. The Prince George's County team will be the second straight squad from that area to play in the big game — Wise won the 4A title last season. The Rams are aiming for their third state championship and first since 2006, but Northwest (No. 9 in Washington area) will provide a challenge. Jaguars sophomore Mark Pierce, who passed for almost 400 yards in a 55-36 semifinal win over Paint Branch, will look to extend Northwest's five-game winning streak. During that run, Northwest has outscored its opponents 154 to 102. The Jaguars' E.J. Lee leads the Montgomery County 4A West region in rushing, with 674 yards.
