Mychal Stefanides (13 points) hit an 8-foot bank shot to give C. Milton Wright boys basketball a two-point lead with 2.7 seconds left, but Aberdeen answered with a 60-foot buzzer-beater by Anthony Bennett to win, 57-56, Thursday night in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference action.
Bennett finished with a game-high 22points for the Eagles (4-3) as they handed the Mustangs (6-1) their first loss of the season. Tyril Rozier added 19points for Aberdeen.
No. 9 Arundel 68, Meade 43: The host Wildcats (5-0) extended their five-point lead after the first quarter by outscoring the Mustangs 21-11 in the second.
Annapolis 82, Northeast 49: Demario Jackson scored a game-high 15points, including three 3-pointers, to power the host Panthers past the Eagles.
Loyola 58, Mount Carmel 54: The host Dons (3-7) held off a 24-point rally by the Cougars (3-5) in the fourth quarter to win.
Loyola led by 16 points heading into the last quarter; Mount Carmel drew to within four, but no closer.
Mitch Cross led the Dons with 24points.
Owings Mills 61, Franklin 42: Eric Proper and Emmanuel Toms each scored 10 points in a loss for the Indians (3-3) at Stevenson University.
Arundel 66, Meade 54: Kennedi Colclough scored a game-high 18 points to lead the host Wildcats (3-2) past the Mustangs.
No. 5 John Carroll 58, Centennial 18: The host Patriots (4-0) won seven matches by forfeit and collected pins by Devin Davis (132) and Christian Scott (170).
Owings Mills notables included Dan Grossman (132) with two first-period pins, Abdul El-Omari (170) with two wins and Komil Juraed (180) with two pins in 24 and 45 seconds.
North County 40, Meade 39: The Knights (10-6) trailed 39-33 heading into the final match, where Desmon Bright (heavyweight) got a pin in 1:18 to tie the meet and North County won by Criteria 1 (most near-fall points).
No. 4 Archbishop Spalding 48, Archbishop Curley 27: The Friars won three of the first four matches before the Cavaliers won 10straight, including nine by pin.
