No. 9 Friars beat No. 2 Cards in baseball again

No. 9 Archbishop Curley completed its regular-season baseball sweep of No. 2 Calvert Hall, Wednesday, winning 6-2.

Winner Michael Remeikis struck out 10 in seven innings and the host Friars (16-9, 12-4 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) scored three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to topple the Cardinals (19-5, 12-4).

Curley beat Calvert Hall, 12-1, on April 2 at Calvert Hall.

No. 13 Franklin 14, Towson 4: The visiting Indians (16-2) scored five runs each in the second and third innings to outpace the Generals (4-12).

Boys lacrosse

No. 14 Arundel 6, Severna Park 5: Brett Malamphy scored the go-ahead goal with 1:30 left and the host Wildcats (13-2) hung on to beat the Falcons (6-9) in a Class 4A-3A East sectional  quarterfinal.

Girls lacrosse

No. 10 Broadneck 16, Meade 3: Ardren Smith had three goals and three assists to power the host Bruins (13-2) past the Mustangs (2-9) in a Class 4A-3A East sectional quarterfinal.

Broadneck advances to Friday's sectional semifinals to face South River or Annapolis.

Glenelg Country 11, Mercy 10: Alyssa Arnold had four goals and Lizzie Rice had three as the Dragons (12-4) beat the host Magic (14-4) in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference semifinal.

Indian Creek 16, Catholic 11: Abbi O'Neal scored a game-high seven goals to power the Eagles (13-2) past the visiting Cubs (9-7) in an IAAM C Conference semifinal.
