No. 12 Mount St. Joseph baseball beats No. 1 Calvert Hall

Joel Kenney pitched 6 1/3 innings and Zach Stoll came in to record the last two outs as No. 12 Mount Saint Joseph baseball upset top-ranked host Calvert Hall, 5-3, Thursday in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game.

Ed Nottingham and Tony Caporlette led the offense with two hits each. Mount Saint Joe improved to 10-11, 6-7. The Cardinals fell to 17-4, 10-3.

No. 9 North Harford 8, Patterson Mill 5: Winner Nic Hammer struck out five in seven innings as the visiting Hawks beat the Huskies.

Hammer, Josh Garcia, Scott Angstadt and Austin Bartenfelder each had two hits. North Harford faces Bel Air Friday at Ripken Yankee Stadium at 3:30 p.m.

Girls lacrosse

John Carroll 9, St. Mary's 7: Caroline Sdanowich scored four goals to power the Patriots, who led 5-2 at halftime, past the Saints in an Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference first round game at Cedar Lane Park.

Kara Klages added two goals, while Alice Cumpston, Grace Richards and Meredith Haggerty each had single goals.

Natalie Modly and Casey DeVito scored two goals apiece to pace St. Mary's.

John Carroll goalie Katy Sharretts made five saves and St. Mary's keeper Haelle Chomo finished with 11 saves.
