Unbeaten City defeats Poly, 10-9, in boys lacrosse

Tracy Smith scored his game-high fifth goal with a minute left as City remained undefeated and handed host Poly its first loss, 10-9, in boys lacrosse Tuesday.

The Knights' (5-0, 5-0 Baltimore City) biggest lead was two goals in the third quarter, but the Engineers (5-1, 4-1) tied the game at 9 with two minutes left. City's Adam Howard had 10 ground balls and held Poly's top-scorer Ramah Harcum to two goals.

No. 1 Boys' Latin 14, No. 9 St. Mary's 13: T Moyer scored the game-winner with 1:08 left as the host Lakers (8-0, 2-0 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) completed their comeback victory over the Saints (6-3, 0-2).

Boys' Latin scored four goals over the final four minutes to win. Shack Stanwick had three goals and six assists for the Lakers, and St. Mary's Cole Robertson had a game-high seven goals.

No. 3 Calvert Hall 12, Severn 1: Timmy Kelly had a hat trick and JT Bugliosi had a goal and two assists to lead the host Cardinals (10-1, 2-0 MIAA A Conference) past the Admirals (6-5, 0-2).

Calvert Hall took a 3-1 lead in the first half before scoring nine straight.

Mount St. Joseph 11, No. 11 Archbishop Spalding 5: The host Gaels (6-2, 1-1 MIAA A Conference) used a 5-1 run in the second quarter to upset the Cavaliers (6-5, 0-2).

Bryan Costible, Clay Kirby and Tyler Snyder each scored twice for Mount St. Joseph.

Bluford Drew Jemison 7, Northwestern 6, OT: Freshman Dwayne Redd scored the game-winner with 1:30 left in overtime to lift the host Rockets (3-3) over the Wildcats (2-4).

Northwestern knotted the score at 6-all with two minutes left in regulation to force overtime. Keith Montgomery had four goals for B.D. Jemison.

Girls lacrosse

Fallston 9, Towson 8, OT: Kayla Reilly had four goals and three assists to power the host Cougars (3-2) past the Generals (2-2).

Baseball

No. 2 Calvert Hall 6, Loyola 2: Winner Nick Delp pitched a complete game, gave up two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out seven as the host Cardinals (9-2, 3-2 MIAA A Conference) beat the Dons (4-6, 2-4).

Calvert Hall scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning.

No. 6 North Harford 7, Bel Air 3: Josh Garcia went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer in the fifth to lead the host Hawks (4-0) past the Bobcats (0-2).

Garcia added three singles and totaled five RBIs.

Softball

No. 4 River Hill 6, Severna Park 5: Trailing by four runs, the visiting Hawks (3-0) scored five in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Falcons.

Kinsey Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double for River Hill.

No. 10 Archbishop Spalding 10, Catholic 0: Ali Caulkins worked five innings and had six strikeouts as the host Cavaliers (3-1, 3-1 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) shut out the Cubs (1-3, 1-3).

Offensively, Caulkins had a home run and three RBIs.

No. 11 Mount de Sales 13, John Carroll 3: Kellie Schinzel (3-for-4) had a double, a home run and five RBIs to power the host Sailors (6-1, 5-1 IAAM A Conference) past the Patriots (1-4, 1-3).

Emily Fitzsimmons had eight strikeouts in the win.
