Varsity roundup: Walk gives Patterson Mill upset of No. 8 River Hill in baseball

With the score tied at 7 in the bottom of the eighth, J.T. Tipton (3-for-4) drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the game-winner as host Patterson Mill upset No. 8 River Hill, 8-7, in baseball Friday night.

The Hawks (2-4) took a 6-0 lead in the first inning and the Huskies (5-1) scored three runs in the seventh to tie.

No. 11 Liberty 10, Winters Mill 4: Right-hander Travis Hessler (1-0) got the win and Zach Delong worked three innings of relief to get the save for the visiting Lions (5-1).

No. 15 Severn 15, Friends 5: The host Admirals (10-0) won their fifth game in a week as David Jaklitsch scored three times on two hits and a walk.


No. 7 Chesapeake-AA 5, North County 3: Crystal White (4-2) pitched a complete game, giving up three runs on three hits and striking out four for the visiting Cougars (4-3).

No. 13 Severna Park 12, South River 9: Carly Moore had three doubles and Kasey Cingel (1-0) got the win for the visiting Falcons (4-2).

Boys lacrosse

No. 6 Gilman 10, LaSalle (Pa.) 5: Max Greene scored a game-high six goals to power the Greyhounds (6-1) past the Explorers (2-2).

No. 7 Loyola 10, Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.) 7: Tim Nordbrook had four goals and Ryan Conrad had two goals and two assists to lead the Dons (7-2) past the Pride (3-2) in West Point, N.Y.

Girls lacrosse

No. 12 Severna Park 20, Northeast 4: Morgan Torggler scored a game-high four goals to help the host Falcons (4-1) past the Eagles (1-1).
