Jack Irvine's strong showing on the mound and a huge sixth inning helped the Severna Park baseball team upset No. 11 South River, 8-3, Thursday night.

The Falcons improved to 1-1, and the Seahawks fell to 0-2.

Winning pitcher Irvine gave up three runs on five hits and struck out eight over six innings. Severna Park's Kai Jackson and Grey Mayer each had two hits.

No. 9 North Harford 5, Harford Tech 4: Nic Hammer struck out five in four innings in the win for the Hawks (3-0) against the host Cobras (1-1).

No. 6 Seton Keough 15, John Carroll 0: Right-hander Kelly Lynch (1-0) threw a one-hit shutout for the host Gators (1-0) against the Patriots (0-1).

No. 9 Archbishop Spalding 10, Notre Dame Prep 1: Winner Ali Caulkins gave up one run on one hit for the host Cavaliers (1-0, 1-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference). The Blazers fell to 0-2, 0-2.

No. 10 Perry Hall 20, Chesapeake-BC 3: Winner Ally Kordon gave up three runs on six hits as the visiting Gators (2-0) scored 10 runs in the first and beat the Bayhawks (0-2).

No. 11 Mount Hebron 16, Marriotts Ridge 0: Winner Evvie Buehlman worked four innings of a five-inning no-hitter to send the host Vikings (1-0) over the Mustangs (0-2).

Boys lacrosse

Bel Air 12, North Harford 2: Calvin Fleagle and Brad Casale scored three goals each and Joey Creaghan scored twice for the Bobcats. Fleagle and Creaghan also had two assists, as did Tyler Utz.
