No. 14 Broadneck scored the last two goals of the first half to gain a little momentum against No. 15 South River and win, 11-10, in an Anne Arundel County girls lacrosse game Wednesday night.
The visiting Bruins (1-1) trailed 5-1, but Ellie McNulty scored with about 1:30 left in the half and Kayla Harris added a goal to pull within 5-3. After the break, Natalie Hendricks scored and the game was soon tied at 6.
After going back and forth, Arden Smith scored what would turn out to be the winner for an 11-9 lead. Caitlin Blanche pulled the Seahawks within one.
"We seem to be slow starters and then some of our senior leadership decides they're not going to settle for that," Bruins coach Katy Kelley said.

St. Joseph's Prep (Pa.) 8, No. 6 Loyola 7: The visiting Hawks (1-0) trailed 7-4 after three quarters but outscored the Dons (2-3) by 4-0 in the fourth.
