But Van Dunson sank two free throws with 14 seconds left for the visiting Eagles (12-11) to take the lead for good as the Gladiators (10-13) missed an open 3-pointer and lost, 63-61, in a Class 2A South opening-round game.
Douglass led 14-10 after the first quarter and Glenelg led 35-32 at the break. The lead seesawed back and forth in the final quarter.
Matt Hammert finished with 15 points, including five 3-pointers.
No. 12 Poly 78, Southwestern 50: Darrion Stokes-Graham scored 23 points to power the visiting Knights (17-6) past the Sabers in Class 4A North.
No. 13 Lake Clifton 92, Dundalk 56: The host Lakers (16-7), led by Cortell Henson's game-high 22 points, outscored the Owls 34-10 in the final quarter to pull away in Class 2A North.
Lake Clifton faces host Douglass Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the second round.
Owings Mills 60, Lansdowne 31: Koron Ford scored 13 points and the host Eagles (16-7) used a 20-6 run in the third quarter to beat the Vikings in Class 2A North.
Owings Mills faces host Loch Raven Thursday at 6 p.m.
Severna Park 55, North County 52: The visiting Knights (7-10) took the lead, 46-44, with 4:30 left in a Class 4A East game. Jared Zuby made aa layup to give the leadback to the Falcons (8-15).
Ben Agee finished with 17 points for Severna Park, which overcame a 21/2 minute scoring lull in the second half.
Mount Airy Christian 58, Cornerstone Christian (D.C.) 10: Sam Tzardzik scored 14 points to lead the host Lions (20-6) in a Maryland Christian Schools Tournament quarterfinal.
Mount Airy Christian 54, Washington Christian 40: Erin Martin and Alyssa Bowen each scored 12 points and the host Lions (18-6) used a faster lineup to pull away from the Wildcats (12-13) in the second round of the MCST.
