For the second straight year, No. 1 McDonogh's Jack Clark is returning to Maryland as a National Prep wrestling champion.
The junior won a 7-2 decision over freshman Mason Manville of Blair Academy (N.J.) in the championship at 145pounds for his second consecutive national title. Clark finished second at 130 pounds as a freshman in 2011.
St. Paul's junior Jack Mutchnik (126) and McDonogh sophomore Myles Martin (160) also won titles, while St. Paul's sophomore Ryan Friedman (113) and McDonogh senior Tyler Patrick (182) placed second. Mutchnik took a 5-4 decision over senior Judson Preskitt of Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) in the championship, while Martin beat St. Mary's Ryken's Josh Llopez in the title match.
McDonogh finished fourth overall with 152 points, while No. 3 John Carroll was sixth with 83 points and No. 6 Archbishop Spalding tied for eighth with 73.5 points.
Blair Academy won with 324.5 points. Good Counsel (third with 160.5 points) and Georgetown Prep (10th with 69 points) were the other Maryland schools to finish in the top 10.
Local third-place finishers included: McDonogh freshman TK Megonigal (106), senior Xavi Ramos (138) and junior Toby Hague (152); John Carroll sophomore Hunter Ritter (170); Mount St. Joseph junior Dan Hawkins; and Gilman senior Shane Cockerille (220).
Good Counsel junior Kyle Snyder, who pinned Cockerille in the semifinal round, also won his second consecutive National Prep championship. Bishop McNamara junior Alfred Bannister won the title at 138pounds.
GLENELG WINS 3A-2A SOUTH: The Gladiators beat Oakland Mills, 225-175.5.
Glenelg crowned five champions — Tim Null (106), Zack Shackelford (126), Mike Budock (132), Troy Walter (152) and Sean Twigg (285) — and had 12 wrestlers place in the top three to qualify for states.
Oakland Mills' Zach Hensley (120) and Jaron Smith (160), and Long Reach's Ronald Hindman (113) also won 2A-1A South regional titles.

Harford Christian 59, Granite Baptist 58: The Braves (15-11) missed seven free throws and were outscored 14-13 in the fourth quarter at the Maryland Association of Christian Schools Athletic Conference title game.
