Archbishop Spalding 3, Mount St. Joseph 2: Shane Gaudreault scored the eventual game-winner with 4:09 left in the third period as the top-seeded Cavaliers (10-2-1) bested the Gaels in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship at Piney Orchard.

The teams traded goals in the first period. Spalding went up 2-1 but was unable to capitalize on a four-minute power play at the end of the second period.

Gaudreault scored Spalding's third goal in a scrum in front of the cage for a 3-1 lead. The Gaels, whose goalie, Mike McMahon, stopped 20 shots in the second period, would draw within one in the final minutes, but no closer.
