No. 12 Oakland Mills is just two games away from completing a perfect boys basketball regular season.
Once again, Lavon Long put up a game high, scoring 17 points, and the Scorpions defeated host Glenelg on Thursday night, 70-53.
Oakland Mills (20-0, 17-0 Howard) limited the Gladiators (8-7, 7-6) to 13 points in the first half.
The Scorpions' final two games are at home at 5:30 p.m. They face Wilde Lake on Tuesday and close out the regular-season against Atholton on Thursday.
Marriotts Ridge 59, Centennial 55: Robbie Davis scored 18 points for the visiting Mustangs (8-11, 7-9 Howard).
Omari Ringgold had 15 points for the Eagles (10-8, 9-7).
No. 11 River Hill 46, Long Reach 22: Megan Sterling scored a game-high 15 points and the host Hawks (16-3, 15-1 Howard) won every quarter.
River Hill extended its 22-16 halftime lead with an 8-2 run in the third and 16-4 spurt in the fourth quarter. The Lightning fell to 6-12, 5-11.
No. 13 Howard 38, Atholton 24: The visiting Raiders (7-9, 7-9 Howard) took an 11-9 lead after the first quarter. The Lions (17-2, 14-2) relied on man-to-man defense to win the next three quarters and had the only double-digit scorers of the game, Anne Kinsey (15 points) and Jayda Gilmore (13 points).
Atholton put up 56 points in its previous game, so Howard rotated back on defense to take away the Raiders' transition game.
