After losing the first quarter, the Glenelg Country School boys basketball team won the next two and had a seven-point lead heading into the fourth. Then host Maret (D.C.) woke up and went on a 20-2 run to beat the Dragons, 58-47, at the Butch McAdams Event on Saturday.
Warren Powers had a game-high 23 points and Kevin Boyd added 14 for Glenelg Country (8-7). The Fighting Frogs (10-2) had a trio of double-digit scorers: Marion Beck (15), Steffen Davis (14) and Drake Goddard (10).
No. 1 St. Frances 90, Annapolis 50: Visiting St.Frances (16-1), led by Maurice White with 22 points, used a 23-8 run in the second quarter to pull away from Annapolis (5-5).
No. 8 Roland Park 73, Loch Raven 23: A trio of Reds —Ryan Holder, Michala Clay and Lauren Carter — scored 12 points to power host Roland Park (8-7) past the Raiders.
Centennial goes 1-for-4 at own duals: The host Eagles beat Overlea, 42-36, but lost 36-32 to Chesapeake-BC, 51-23 to Perry Hall and 36-34 to Northeast.
Centennial picked up three wins by pin in the Overlea match: Sameh Boulos (152), Nick Shearin (160) and Bradley Fasulo (170).
Friday boys basketball
No. 6 Archbishop Spalding 64, Calvert Hall 49: The host Cavaliers (11-5, 4-1) handed the Cardinals (8-8, 3-3) their second consecutive Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference loss.
