Avenging its only Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference division loss, No.10 C. Milton Wright knocked off visiting Edgewood, 1-0, on Tuesday in a Class 3A North Section II girls soccer semifinal.
The only goal came just 1:12 into the action when Megan Pavlitsa scored off a pass from fellow senior Alyssa Austen.
The Mustangs had two other chances in the first half, which was dominated by the Mustangs (12-4). Sarah Murphy's shot was too high with 11 minutes to play, and a minute later, freshman Jordan Nichols could not connect off a feed from Pavlitsa.
Edgewood (12-4) came out strong in the second half and, just three minutes in, freshman Melanie Parncutt saw her shot sail over the goal.
The Rams controlled play the first five minutes, but CMW held strong, before putting together three real scoring chances over a four-minute spurt.
Edgewood's best scoring chance came with 14 minutes left. Isabella Barbieri took a pass from Caitlin Rankin and jammed it past Mustangs keeper Stacy Venanzi. The ball, however, bounced straight back off the right post and was cleared away.
Venanzi finished with six saves and Edgewood goalie Nasia Denegal had a solid game with 11 saves.
