McDonogh girls lacrosse has a record 195-game winning streak — but there have been close calls along the way

McDonogh’s No. 1 girls lacrosse team hasn’t played in a lot of nail-biters since its 195-game winning streak began in 2009, but a few teams have come awfully close to ending it. Here’s a look at most of the Eagles’ close calls.

April 30, 2018

McDonogh 11, Notre Dame Prep 10 OT. Julia Hoffman scored the game-winner on a free position 2:24 into overtime.

May 2, 2016

McDonogh 12, Century 11 OT. The Eagles scored four straight goals in the final 8:14 of regulation, and Caitie May won it about a minute into overtime.

May 10, 2015

McDonogh 15, Roland Park 14-x. The Eagles trailed by four goals with less than 15 minutes to go. Andie Aldave scored the game-winner with 5.9 seconds left on a feed from Kelsey Cummings.

May 7, 2014

McDonogh 13, Severn 12-y. The Eagles rallied from two goals down with less than six minutes left to win on Megan Whittle’s crease roll with 1:18 left.

May 14, 2013

McDonogh 11, St. Paul’s 8-x. The Eagles trailed by four goals just after the half and didn’t lead until 6:44 remained in the game.

May 13, 2012

McDonogh 12, Maryvale 11-x. Taylor Cummings scored the game-winner with 9.8 seconds left.

May 14, 2011

McDonogh 18, Roland Park 17-x. Cummings scored with 59 seconds left.
