If the troubles at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs aren't new (and they aren't) and since President Barack Obama knew about them in 2008 and promised to fix them, why haven't the problems been fixed in past five years ("VA's troubles deep-rooted," May 21)?
We all know President Obama is not a manager, otherwise he would have been meeting with General Eric Shinseki and his team at least monthly for the past five years, working the problem and not being told about it by CNN. Mr. Obama continuously campaigns, raises campaign funds, plays golf and apparently has no interest in governing.
Your mild rebuke of him is the true definition of "sycophancy." People are dead because of his failure to manage, both in Benghazi and on VA waiting lists, and the press continues to give him a free pass. Shame on you.
Lyle Rescott, Marriottsville
