The top-ranked Garrison Forest field hockey team completed its perfect season in a similar fashion as it has done all season long -- with its 13th shutout. The Grizzlies finished 18-0 overall and 16-0 in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference with a 6-0 decision over visiting Mount de Sales on Wednesday.
"We've never had a perfect season, no ties. Never in my time as a coach," Grizzlies coach Traci Davis said. "This is a first."
Erica Marshall and Geagy Pritchard provided the offense, scoring four and two goals, respectively, and Kendall Kuntz and Ariyel Yavalar made nine and two saves, respectively. Garrison Forest awaits the winner of Thursday's game between St. Paul's and St. Mary's in Tuesday's quarterfinals at 3:45 p.m.
No. 7 Bel Air d. North East, 3-0:
Amanda Rodriguez had 16 assists and Celeste Roland had 11 kills for the host Bobcats (15-0). Bel Air won, 25-13, 25-15, 25-8.
No. 15 Archbishop Spalding d. St. Paul's, 3-1:
Kristen Seeba had 21 kills and the host Cavaliers (13-4) advanced to Friday's IAAM A Conference championship at Roland Park
at 7 p.m. Spalding won, 18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21. The Cavaliers face No. 3 Seton Keough, who beat Notre Dame Prep, 3-1.
