Katy Buck, Mount de Sales, hitter, senior
Buck was the undisputed leader of the area's top-ranked team. She led the Sailors to a second consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title and a 19-1 record.

Buck was a major reason why the Sailors won the prestigious Bulldog Tournament at North Caroline in September, defeating Class 4A state champion Broadneck, Class 3A runner-up River Hill, then-No. 1 Centennial and Class 2A runner-up North Caroline. She also led the Sailors to the finals of the MD/DC Private Schools tournament, where they lost to D.C-area power Good Counsel.

She recorded 306 kills and 286 digs. As good as Buck was on the court, she was even better at the serving line. She recorded 109 aces using a high-powered jump-serve, and it was not uncommon to see her serve 10 or 12 straight points.
