PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Kristy Black, Glenelg
The senior midfielder rewrote the Gladiators' record book this season and led them to a Class 2A-1A state championship. A versatile player with great speed, Black set school career records with 172 goals, 143 assists, 315 points and 221 drawcontrols. She had six goals and five assists in the 17-11 state title victory over Loch Raven, setting tournament records for most points in a 2A-1A title game and tying the all-classification record for assists in a title game. She had 70 goals and 58 assists as the Gladiators won their first Howard County championship.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Ginger Kincaid, Glenelg
In her 21st season as the Gladiators' coach, Kincaid picked up her 215th career win with the 17-11 state final victory over Loch Raven. The Gladiators were a bit up and down, winning easily over Centennial and then hitting a midseason skid, dropping games the next two days to unranked teams at the Winters Mill Tournament. But they rebounded to win nine of their last 10 games, including a 14-11 overtime victory over Mount Hebron. The Gladiators finished 16-4 with the No. 12 ranking, winning state, regional and county championships. Kincaid's career record stands at 215-109-1 with two state titles.
